Pack Shed Manager
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is a 24 to 30 hour per week job, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Pack Shed Manager is an organizer and multi-tasker, they take the raw product coming from the field and turn it into shiny clean items, boxed, labeled and properly stored in the cooler, ready for delivery. The job entails working with the Crew Leader in manager harvest order, and then handling all post harvest handling, from washing, packing and cooler management for order distribution. IF this person needs full time employment during the season, they can easily be hired to work as a crew member on Tuesday and Thursday. Hourly wage dependent on experience.
Assistant Pack Shed Manager
This person works with the pack shed manager getting produce from field harvested to washed, packed, labeled and into the cooler for delivery to customers. This position can be either part time or full time, based on the prospective employees financial needs. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to multi-task, have strong attention to details, able to stand long hours and work in water. Hourly wage dependent on experience.
A few disclaimers and explanations –
- All wages listed above start at $8 per hour. While the farm certainly isn’t rolling in the dough, we believe strongly that we must pay a living wage to the folks who have made organic farm work a career choice.
- All positions are seasonal, from as few as three months up to eight months. Our plans are to grow the farm so that we can offer year –round employment, but we’re not there yet.
- Really eating well is part of what an organic farm should be all about. We provide three meals per week to our staff, prepared by some pretty amazing farm chefs. We also make sure that everyone working with us has plenty to eat at home, with ample allowance for produce and chickens to meet your home eating needs.
- There is NO housing or health insurance offered with any of the positions offered at JenEhr Family Farm. We understand this is a huge issue in both society and at our micro level. But the economics of the farm simply make it impossible to offer any kind of health insurance benefits
